The price of gasoline

A very interesting question in 2008 is to look into the future and imagine what gasoline prices will be like. Here are some wild guesses:
$1.30/L: 2008
$1.50/L: 2009
$2.00/L: 2011
$2.50/L: 2013
$3.00/L: 2016
$4.00/L: 2021
$10.00/L: 2030
It will be interesting (and scary) to sit back and watch.

Something that drives me nutts is that when things are manufactured, weather-resistant metals aren't used in situations where they will obviously be needed. For instance, the screw that hold the handle bars of my bike to the handle bar post. It's completely exposed to the elements, and yet it's obviously made of a metal that isn't a bit resistant to rust.

In life we're usually juggling quite a few things. There are a lot of variables, and keeping tabs on them, while optimizing all of the equations of life, some of them at odds with each other, can take a lot of energy.
Above it all, we try to arrive at happiness, joy, well being. It would be interesting to study the myriad of things that go on in the brain to perform the blancing act of life.
