Troubled Soyuz
April 26, 2008

I was a little alarmed to read this article on CNN. Apparently the recent landing made by Peggy Whitson's ISS crew was pretty dramatic, seeing forces of over 8Gs. I've always thought of the Soyuz capsule as being a very dependable, safe reentry vehicle. It's also troubling to read that something like this happened last time, and they thought they had figured it out. If they couldn't figure it out last time, that tells me it's not an obvious cause, which might prevent them from finding it this time around too.

Taking pictures with a macro lense, as many people have found, opens up a new world of photography, sometimes verging on abstract art. As it turn sout, taking pictures of microscopic things does the same.

Google search
April 26, 2008

A couple of weeks ago, I realized that you can see how people are getting to your website by looking at the HTTP_REFERER HTTP header. It even tells you what people are searching for on Google -- how interesting! What I found quite funny is that my website is actually the #1 search result for some surprising search phrases. I even show up in an image search!

#1

earth day + 5 minute shower liters
how much water does a 5 minute shower take in litres
