visearchSeptember 7, 2006
I admit it, I was a reluctant convert to
vi. I can't think of a more obscure human/computer interface; using h/j/k/l to navigate a text document isn't what I call intuitive! But after some time with it you begin to see the light. This week I came across a link to
visearch, a halarious adaptation of the vi interface to searching the web. Well done!
Whereever.caSeptember 7, 2006
Whereever.ca caught my attention this week. As I was walking home from work along University Ave. I saw something peculiar on a telephone pole directly above. It was a white box with an antenna protruding downwards. I squinted and thought I could make out a "Cisco" logo on its underside. Was it a wirless router?! When I got home, I grabbed the mail and headed up the stairs. How ironic: The orange and white flyer I held in my hand was for a new wireless internet service in the Waterloo university area. $25/month, with impressive coverage around Laurier, UW, and even quite a ways north. Awesome!

As we head into mid-August, I'm getting really excited about the prospect of taking a road trip down to Florida with Graham to watch the next shuttle mission launch. Checkout the above link to see a small image of the NASA mission patch that Graham and his fellow students designed for the mission.
The hope is that we'll be able to watch it go up from the "VIP bunker", only 3 miles away from the launch site.
